Tools of Engagement (Hot & Hammered #3) by Tessa Bailey
I did not know this was a trilogy but you can just dive right into ‘Tools of Engagement’ without reading the other ones.
First off I really liked the character of Wes. A foster kid from Texas who rides bulls and is now taking care of his niece. What’s not to love. But at times he’s written a little more mature then a 23-year-old is suppose to be. Wes taking care of his niece is so cute. I would almost say a highlight of the book. Seeing him try to deal with a tea party or having her call his female friend Elsa all the time it’s cute. Keeping the babysitters apart like ‘outlander ringtone’ is fun.
I did laugh about him going to the hardware store to get workers. So this book has its moments.
Bethany Castle is the love interest and all I can say is that Bethany at times annoyed me to no end. She seems to not like dirt and everything needs to be perfect but has anxiety. She wants to fix up her own flip home but has no clue how to do it. Even though its a family business. She also doesn’t seem to want to learn how to fix up homes.
There are a lot of things happening in a short period of time. You have a wedding, dealing with a sister in law who has no idea how to tell her hubby she’s expecting, a house to fix up and flip, a TV show that comes along, Bethany and Wes getting closer, Wes trying to get custody of his niece and so on. You get the idea. It’s just too much packed together.
Its drama that all works out in the end. Hey if you need a book to read at the beach go for it.
